McKenzie said as the matter was under the conjtrol of tlie Minister of Justice it would be better if the deputation communicated direct with him on the subject. Mr John Cameron, organising secretary of the New Zealand Anti-Asi-atic League, gave an address at the junction of Trafalgar and Bridge streets last night. Mr Harry Atmore presided and briefly introduced the lecturer, who spoke for rather more than thirty minutes. He advocated that the Chinese should be altogether excluded from the Dominion. The lecturer was not in favour of the education test. Tlie speaker was sure Sir Joseph Ward was in favour of tlie total exclusion of the Chinese. Mr Cameron was in favour of increasing the poll tax to £500, money derived from this source to be used for the repatriation of Chinese already in this country; Legislation should be introduced to prevent children from going Into" Chinese shops, > and the workers were urged to in no way support the Chinese traders. "The Chinese are the most immoral race on the face of the earth that I know of,". said Mr Cameron, "and their quarters are dens of infamy." There was a large audience and the_ address was well received, but at times was interrupted by members of the audience who were evidently not in sympathy with some of the sentiments expressed. The speaker considered that our land, defences should be put on a better footing and that rifles should be supplied to fche youths free of charge to induce them to become efficient in the use of arms, so that should necessity arise they could repel any attack from invaders.
