The Mikado, through Admiral Sporry, assured President Roosevelt of his goodwill and thanked him for affording the Japnnese an opportunity of giving a proof of their sincere attachment to the Ameri cans. Mr Roosevelt, replying, referred to the longstanding friendship < f the two countries.
