During tbe bearing of tbe wharf labourers' dispute by the Arbitration Court, to-day, Mr Justice Sim asked regarding the demand of the union for preference to unionsts, whether the union"in case the Court acceded to the request, would agree to make itself responsible for strikes.

Mr McLaren (Secretary to the Union) said he would say yes. The Union had always been against strikes. It was non-unionists who created trouble^ fl " Mr S. Brown (employers' representative) asked whetbor the Union would argee to make the Union responsible through its funds for any strike?
