Despito the King's desire for privacy, two Socialists tried to maroh a hundred unemployed to the Dufcu of Fife's residence. The police dispersed the meeting. New York, February 11.
The national congress of unemployed at St. Louis, Mo., demands tbat the unemployed be. State-sup-ported during the period of inactivity, like the soldiers. They also ask free transportation when seeking employment, and an appropiation of 150,000,000 dollars fur organisation of work for the idle. Mr John Burns, in reply to a question, said it was not intended to legislate in the matter of unem. ployment in 3908, but it was proposed to meet the period of distress as sympathetically as possible.
