Februrty 2; The King, Queen, Crown Prince, and tho Infanta Manuel wei'e driving in au open carriage in Lisbon, and when loaving]the Praco de Commarcio a group of men opened fire with carbines. The King aud Crown Prince were mortally wounded, and Man del slightly. The Queen had a miraculous es-« cape. She rose to shield the Crown Prince, but waS not hit.^ The police immediately tired on the regicides. The King and his son were removed to the Naval Arsebal, where they died shortly afterwards, each having received three bullets.
