FOOTBALL.
SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.
Monday (August 5) was raw and cold, but the afternoon turned out tine, and during - the earlier part it was pleasant at the Park, but the field of play was somewhat hard. The' attendance was not quite so large as usual, but the spectators "who patronised this tournament were treated to a good afternoon's sport, and the final of the Junior competition was very exciting, the College A team proving victorious over the Waimea A, the latter, however only succeeding after playing over time. Additional interest to this tournament was given by the inclusion of a Collingwood saven which made a very creditable fight against the Waimea A. The Riwaka team also gave a good account of themselves, and were only put outafter playing two games. The Third Class competition fell to the Albion A team, but a word of praise should be given to the Huia 3even,this being their first appearance in these matches, and they fought two stubbornly contested games. before beingbeaten in the final. The Albion A team was a smart combination, having been coached by Mr W. Miller, and rather easily defeated the Uuias in the last match.
