HOUSE; In the House, Mr Field moved that the second reading of the Otaki and Porirua Empowering Bill, which waa set down for to-day, be taken on in nexc week. This was agreed to. "Mr Arnold moved the second reading of the Dunedin Surburban Gas Company Empowering Bill, which was agreed to. Three days' leave of absence was granted Mr Ell. The Costley Training Institution Act Amendment Bill was read the first time. Letters received from Mrs-Kirk-bride and Wilfred Hall expressing thanks for the Houses' kind resolutions were ordered to be recorded in the journals of the House. The report on the Eotorua Town Bill was considered, and the amendments made in Committee were agreed to. The Bill was read a third time and passed. The House adjourned at 5.30 p.m. On resuming at 7.30 Mr Masaey opened the debate on the Financial Statement, which was continued by Mr McNab, Mr James Allen and Mr Wilford. The House rose at 11.55 p.m.
