FATALITY AT COLLINGWOOD.
KILLED BY A FALL OF EARTH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ( Ry Telegraph. ) Collingwood, May 23. A young man named Llnwellyn James, a son of Mr Frank Jamo^, of Purumahoi, was killed by a fill of earth, while working at the ;'lh!i< Rivor Company's 'sluicing elftir.i rh;-. mornJn;-!. The Fatality near Collingwood - Our correspondent writes: "Tie death of Lou .Tamos 'has cast quite n gloom over this district, where he was highly respected, and his paronts have tho sincore sympathy of evexyone. On 'Funs Jay afternoon the remains were brought down from the Slate Rivor Sluicing Company's works tc> ibo residence of his uncle, Mr George Jamee, on the Rockville road. In reference to the accident, it appoars that deceased was working in a tail race, when a small slip canw in from the top. A stone struck him on the head, and he fell into the ra<;o, and the water backed up by tbo slip drowned him before help was obtained. When ttie water was let off there was no debris on the body. An inquest will be held on Wednesday. - It will be remembered that deceased's elder brother Ralph James died of fever in South Africa, and that a monument to perpetuate his memory was erected in Collingwood by the residents of the districts.
