FUNERAL OF MR L. JAMES
; DEATH OF OLD SETTLER (By Telegraph) From Our Own Correspondent Collingwood, May 30 The funeral of Mr Lewellyn James took place to day. It was the largest funeral seen in Collingwood. The deceased waa a Forester, and about 60 Foresters followed the cortege. Mr Ray Scrimgeour C. R., read tbe Foresters funeral service in a very impressive manner. The inquest was 3tarted_this morning and adjourned until next Wednesday for the attendance of the Inspector of Mines,. Dr Washbourne gives it his opinion that the deceased was killed at once by a blow from a stone on deceased's forehead as there was no appearance of drowning. We are sorry to record another death, last night, of old Mr Auty, at the residence of Mr John Skilton, his uncle. It will be remembered that Mr Auty kept the Motueka Hotel for many years.
