FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The half-yearly financial summoned meeting of the Maitai Lodge, No. 1">, U.A.0.D., was held in the Druids' Hall on June sth, .-i.D. Bro. W. Cooksey occupied the chair, there being a fair attendance of members, including P. G. P. Rro. Meozh<s, of the Otago and Southland District Grand Lodge, and D. P. Bro. Levy, of the local District. The Auditors' report and half-yearly balance-sheet were read and adopted. The report congratulated the members on the substantial numerical and financial increases. The total number of members on the books was shown to be 284 The worth of the various funds were as follows:— Management fund, £189 4s : Benovelent Fund, £5; Sick and Funeral Fund, £212:] lla 4d : or a total worth of £2:>1~ 15s 4d. Officers were appointed as follows for the various positions, and were duly installed by D. P. bro. Levy, assisted by P.D.P, Bro. H. W. Oakley:— J. P. A. Bro. W. Cooksey: A.D.,*Bro. R. Aiton; V. A., Bro. E. Sinclair; Sec, Bro. W. F. Thomson; Treas. , Bro. K Oral,-; A.B. 's, Bro. A.G. Betta and C. W. Taylor: V.A.B.'s, Bros. W. Trott and O. Pickwell: 1.G., Bro. J. McDonald: O.G. Bro. J. Corby. The retiring J.P. A., Bro., B. Walker, was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for his services to the Lodge while occupying the various positions filled by him, and it was resolved that his name be placed on the merit; board, and that he receive the P. A. Degree. O.U. Bro U Stewart was also accorded a hearty vote of thanks for bib long and acceptable services to the Lodge One new member was initiated and four others poposed Other routine business being transacted, the meeting closed
