SUSPECTED PLAGUE.
Auckland, May 17. The 'prompt steps taken by Dr. Purdy, the District Health Officer, appear to have had satisfactory results, as no further cases of the sioknesa have been reported. When the first case was discovered the Hospital at Point Chevalier was immediately got ready for patients reauired to be isolated. Wellington, May 17. Dr. McGill has left for Auckland to investigate the suspicious cases there.
