Wellington, May 17. Th© Government Biologist states the strictest watch is being kept 1 where the Mediterranean fruit fly appeared (Napier and Blenheim). At both places the fruit found to be infecced waa destroyed, and the ground was treated with kerosene in order to destroy the maggots that might have fallen to the ground. He is very hopeful that the pest has been eradicated, and that it will not be seen next season. The Mediterranean fruit fly is considered more dangerous to fruit growing industry in this oolony than the Queensland fly.
