THE SLAUGHTERMEN'S STRIKE
Wellington, Feb 1G The beef butchers at the Wellington Meat Export and Gear Meat Companies' Woj;ks have killed sufficient bullocks for to-day's demand, and it is said they will go out on strike on Monday in sympathy with I,ho sheep killers. If this action ho carried out the remainder of the workmen will be rendered idlp. The companies have sufficient-frozen heef in stock to supply local demands, hut until the strikers resume or fresh hands aro employedno meat can he killed for esport ■*£* The slaughtemon's sfcriko still continues. The Gear Company are understood to bave made a further offer to tho men which ia beiug considered at a meeting to-day. The Meat Export Company has informed tho men that it has nothing to do witb this offer, and urges .that the matter of the rate of pay should bo ljft to the ArbitrationJCouit.
