Never before has the cycle division included such a brilliant set of back markers as have entered for this meeting. It is expected that Sutherland will endeavor to reduce R. A rnst's motor paced mile record of imin Sls'eCs made on the Nelson track. H*-, The athletic events have all filled well, averaging nearly a dozen competitors for each event, and in addition to the competitions, G. Thomassen, provincial champion for hammer throwing and shot putting, will give an exhibition of tossing the caber. A new carefully-measured quarter mile track has been laid off for the running events. Every provision possible is being itiade for the convenience of-specta-tors, and there will be luncheon booths, etc, on the ground. Arrangements are being made for a steamer excursion from Motueka, while the train arrangements made admirably suit the convenience of country residents. There will be the ordinary down train arriving in town at nine o'clock, another leaving Tadmor at 8 a.m atid arriving in town at 11.5, in good time for the sports, which start at 11. 30, while a third train will arrive from Belgrove aG 1.53 p.m in good time for the after lunch events, which will include the cream of the competitions. The sports are timed to close shortly after five, and a train leaving town at 6.0 p.m, and arriving at Tadmor at 9.15, should suit nicely as there will be ample time to obtain tea between the conclusion of tne sports, and the time of the train leafing.
