The annual sportb of the above named Club was held at Richmond Park on Jan 1, when the weather was fine, and the attendance was upwards of sis hundred. The sport was very good, the finishes being close, particularly so in the cycling events, the Handicapper'being highly complimented. The following were the results:— One Mile Cycle; cash* Ist priiao 405., 2nd 20b,— First heat,F. Rough ton, 35 yards, 1; B. Baigent, 50yards,2; C. Jacobsen, scratch 3. Time~2min 21 sees. Second heat :E Hagen, 55 yards, 1 ; J. Colenlan, 100 yards, 2. Time— 2min 38 sees: Final heat : F, Roughton, 1: C. Jacobsen, 2; B. Baigent, 3. A grand finish between Roughton and Jacobsen. Time— 2mins*26 sees Messrs C. Bremner, P. H. Hall, and H. Bradley were the non-starters. 100 Yards Cash Run t First prize 30s; 2nd 10s: H. Sparrow, f yards, 1: W. Gaynor, scratch, 2; G. Mill. 3. A good race and a close finish, the time being 10 4-5 seconds. 100 Yards Amateur Run; Ist prize 20s; 2d 10s: A. C Lanie 6 yards, 1; W E Poole, 7 yards, 2 ; P J McNaniara, 3. A good race. Time 10 4-5 seconds, exactly the same time as the previous race. Running High Jump, Amateur; Ist prize 25s :~ 2nd, 7s 6d; five entries: H Cook, scratch, sft 3in ; P J McNamara, 4in, jumped 4ft llin, which brought him up to sft 3in ; R O'Connor, 6in, jumped 4ft 9in, which brought him up to sft 3in ; the competitors decided to divide the stakes. J O'Connor, l>£in, jumped 4ft Bin, and J Stewart did not compete. - One Mile Cycle, Aniateur; Ist prize, £2: 2nd £1: seven entries: First heat— H M Gibbs, 80yards, 1; P Green, scratch, 2; S Coleman 55 yards, 3; time, 2mins 28secs. Second heat— O Roughton, 55yards, 1: A R Jacobsen, 55 yards 2; J Hall, 40 yards, 3; time 2 mins 28secs. Final heat: O Roughton, 1; A R Jacobsen, 2; P Green, 3. A splendid race; time 2 mins 25 2-5 sees. 22) Yards Cash Run : Ist priza, £1 10s: second prize 10s; eight entries, but only four faced the starter, Messrs Hawkes, L and H G Perkinson and G Mill being non-starters: O Malley,loyards,l; Gaynor, scratch, 2 ; H Sparrow 15 yards 3. A closa and exciting finish : time, 24 4-ssecs. Best Poster Bicyel6: Ist prize 15s; 2nd, 7s 6d? two entries: Miss L Lammas (representing Mr Smallbone, fruiterer) 1; Miss Rose Lammas (representing Messrs LJroucher and Son, bakers and confectioners), 2. The get up of each was very effective, and there was little to ohose between the two. High Cash Jump; Ist prize 15s; 2nd 7s 6d ; five entries: Ford,sin, sft lin, 1; Claridge 4in, sft, 2. 220 Yards Youths' Race, under 18 years, Ist prize 15s: 2nd. 7s 6d; eight entries: W H Smith, 1; G Hammond, 2; A Sutton 3: a good race, time 28 1-5 sees. Two Mile Cycle, Cash, Ist prize, £2 10b; 2nd £1; nine entries, but Messrs Hall, J Coleman and C Bremner dropped out : F Roughton 1 : B Baigent, 2 ; time 4min 9 sees. Best Decorated Carriage or Gig, Ist prize £2 2s : 2d£l Is ; two entries ; Mrs Wearing and Miss Cresswell (scarlet and green) l;Mrs May (pink and green) 2. Both vehicles were beautifully decorated, and the judges had not an easy task in making their decision. There was only one entry for the best decorated tandem team (cyclists) Miss Meyers' Japanese ladies who were greeted with applause. 221 Yards Amateur Run, Ist prize £1 10s; 2nd l's: Six entries, but J Stewart and F O'Connor did not start. A C Lame, 12 yards, 1 ; WE Poole, 13 yards, 2; F Kitching 3; no time taken. 880 Yards Cash Run, Ist prize £2 : 2nd £1; fourteen entries, Messrs Sparrow. Haw be, Ford, Perkinson, Stewart and Henricks did not start, leaving a field of eight. A good race ensued, witn a very close finish. W Tidd, 20 yards, 1; R Hird 10 yards, 2; E Lefrantz 3; time 2 mins 7 3-5 sees. Sack Race Handicap, 200 Yards, Ist prize 15s; 2nd 7b 6d ; 3rd, 2s 6d< nine entries: G Cole, 1; G Coleman 2 ; G Jessop 3. There was only one entry (Miss Cresswell) for the best decorated horse or pony. Three Mile Amateur Cycle, Ist prize £2 10s; and £1: seven entries, all starting excepting S Coleman. It was a splendid race, all the competitors being close to each other at the finish, in faot, it was the best cycling race that has been witnessed on Richmond Park. O Roughton, 80 yards, 1 ; A R Jacobsen, 120 yards, 2 : time 7 mins 31 3-5 sees 120 Yards Hurdles. Amateur, Ist prize £1 10s: 2nd 10s; five entries, but Stewart did not compete. H Cook, 6 yards, 1: O'Connor, 10 yards, 2 ; P McNamara, 8 yards 3 ; time 19 sees. Bandsmen Race, Ist prize £1; 2nd 10s: ten entries: H McConchie 1: W Woodward 2. A good race with a close finish. Newtown Cricket Club Race, 220 yards, Ist prize 15s ; 2nd, 7s 6d ; 3rd, os; 4th, 2s 6d; fifteen entries; a capital race: Sisson 1; Turner 2: Mapleson3; E Claridge 4; time 27 sees. Married Men's Race, 12 1 ) yards Ist prize 10s; 2nd, ss; four entries: O'Malley,l; W Gaynor, 2; Lefrantz, 3,; time 11 sees Three Mile Cycle Cash, Ist prize £2 10s; 2nd £1; nine entries; Messrs Hall, Coleman and Bremner did not start. A close and exciting finish, the placed men struggling hard for the victory : F Roughton, 60 yards, 1 ; C Jacobsen, scratch, 2; E Hagen, 3; time 8 mins 13 1-5 sees. 440 Yards Amateur Run, Ist prize £2 ; 2nd £1 ; eight entries, but Messrs Pike, Richmond, and Stewart did not start : A U Lame, 20yards 1 ; W E Poole, 24 yards, 2; M Beach, 2 ) yards, 3; time 52secs. One Mile Cash run, Ist prize £3; 2nd £l:3rd 10s; thirteen entries, but Messrs Sparrow, Perkinson, Stewart and Hartnan did not run. L. Hawkes 50 yards, 1 : Laf rantz, ten yards, 2 ; R Hird, scr, 3. A good race, time 4min 48 1-5 sees. Five Mile Cycle Amateur, Ist prize £3 10s; 2nd, £1; 3rd, l's: seven entries, but A Coleman did not compete: Percy Green, scratch, 1; A R Jacobsen, one hundred yards,- 2; O Rougbton, scratch 3,"A splendid race with a close finish, the time being 13 mins 59 2-5 sees. The programme was finished about 5.30 p.m. The Nelson Citizens' Band materially enlivened the proceedings with the excellent music provided.
