H BATTERY SOCIAL.
There was a good attendance of present and old members at the social held on Monday evening in the largo marquee afc thw Bafctory camp. Among the old members present were ex-Lieuts. Topliss and Wimsett —the latter being quite the oldest "old member" present. A most enjoyable evening was spent by all present and the old ninmbers, through ex-Lieut. Toplis, intimated that they would present a challenge •shield for competition by the gun detachments, the first competition to be held at the annual training camp. Considerable satisfaction wan expressed on all hands when it was announced that there was no doubt but that the result of the work in camp would be that the H BatteTy would be classed as A grade, which is the highest grade in this branch of the service. Several toasts were proposed and all were heartily drunk with musical honors; the toast of the old members was proposed by Lieut. Grace in a vigorous speech, and most enthusiastically drunk, and was responded to most warmly by ex-Lieuts. Topliss and Wimsett. The harmony of the evening was contributed to by "Drivers Slim n andHounsell; by BombadierSome--ville (of tho P. A., Wellington), and also by several old members. The evening was brought to close with the singing of Auld Lang Byn<\ about midnight. It was mentioned by Lieut, Tnpli-s that the Old Members' Association intend holding a social shortly, and that all present members of the Battery would receive' an invitation to that function,
