SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.
ATHLETIC V. UNITED. The former, with a strong team, and the latter, with a weak one and a man short, comhieiiced this fixture on Saturday afternoon on the grass wicket. The United winning the toss, batted first, and made 108 runs for nine wickets. Kinzett hit very hard for 06 runs, his strike including eight fourers. Stiles went in first wicket down, and carried out his bat for 31 cot out. The remaining batsmen made a sorry show. K. Knapp and Chisbolm were the successful bowlers the former obtaining 5 for 23 and the latter 3 for 20. - At the conclusion of the day's play the Athletics had scored 115 for eight wickets. Hair played a nice innings for 39, whilst Knapp 16, Smith 16, Blincoe 10, and King 10 scored double figures. Galbraith 3 for 20, and Hellyer 2 for 25, bowled the best : Hellyer bowled ex ceedingly well, although taking only two wickets. He bowled 18 overa, 7 being maidens.
