ALLEGED FORGERY.

Invercargill, October 29. Before the Magistrate (Mr McCarthy Ho day, Percy Charles Douglas and Jessie Colyer were charged with forging educational and birth cirtificates with a view to misleadmgthe General Manager of Railways. The evidence showed that Douglas applied for the position of cleaner on the railways, and gave his age as eighteen, and stated he had pasesd the Sixth Standard, whereas he was nineteen, and only passed the Fourth Standard. The boy was brought up by Mrs Colyer, who forged the documents, Douglas being aware of the fact. The accused, who admitted the correctness of the evidence for the prosecution, but reserved their defence, wore committed for trial.
