Association's combined resolution, j urging the Governments of the United Kingdom, its Colonies and Dependencies, to grant to each other pieferential treatment on a reciprocal basis, and expressed a hope that the Colonial Conference would give effect to the principle. J Lord Avebury said it would be time to talk of preference when Britain and Canada started on an equality of duties. , „ Mr Beale, of Sydney, and Mr Beauchamp, of Now Zealand, warmly •upported the resolution. Mr Beale promised Mr Chamber lain & magnificent reception if he visited Australia. . A cable from Bengal remarked that in. the case of India bonds of trade might become fetters. The debate was adjourned. The delegates from Canada and South Africa invited the. next Congress to meet in their respective countries!
