MOTUEKA.
Motueka, June 21. JJ About tv.o thousand people attended the memorini service which took place at 2.30 p.m. this afternoon at the Church ground. The Chairman (Mr J. B. Jordan) briefly explained the object of the gathering, and also apologised for the unavoidable absence of his Worship the Mayor. Tae Speakers were the Rev. T. Johnston (Church of England), Rev. Turnbull (Presbyterian), Rev. C. Roberts (We3leyan),the Salvation Army leader, and Mr H. P. Park (Native). The latter addressed the people in Maori, and Mr Bennett interpreted. Appropriate hymns were sung by the combined choirF, and Mrs Symcs presided at the organ. The National Anthem and the Dead March were feelingly played by the Band. At the conclusion of the service the Chairman thanked all who had tnken part, including those who bad assisted in the preliminary arrangements, also the people for their attendance. On the motion of the Hey. T. Johnston and Mr H. P. Park, a vots of sympathy was pß.ssed to Mrs Seddon and her family. The Mounted Kities and the School Cadets attended under their respective oflicers. The weather was p.ll that could be dosired, and a suitable spot was chosen for the service on the west side of the Church, where a spaoious platform was erected for the accommodation of the speakers, the Councilors, and the choir. The whole proceedings passed off without a hitch.
