MIITAI BOWLING CLUB.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. j The fourth annual meeting of the above- named (Jlub was bold on Thursday, June 21, when Mr James i McEachen, the President, presided. ! About thirty-five members were present. The minutes were confirmed. The following were elceted aa new members, namely, Mossrs Rushbrook, -T. W. Richards, Haynos, F\ N. Jones, junior, W. Lock. "W. EL Simpson H. flobbs, A. Karston, Livick, J. j W. locale, T. Harfoid, F. Harford, i H. Half, H. Tunnicliffe, B. Webley, Terrill, and D. McKillop. * | Mr W, A. Dee, the Secretary, presented the report, which congratulated members on the continued prosperity of the Club, and upon a sueessful year's operations. There had been a substantial increase of members, and the total membership uf the Clob was now 82. Reference was made to tho Pennant matches, which had proved very successful, though the Maitai's dlub's colours had jbeen lowered by the Kelson Club. The Easter tournaments were detailed, and the need of a pavilion emphasised. Thanks were due to Messrs Tomblin, Henderson, Cotton, the ladies who had provided afternoon toa, and the Press. It was mentioned that G. M. Simpson's rink had won the most matches last season. The rink was composed of G. M. Simpson, A. Everett, Bockraann and J. Hockey, Mr O. J. McEachon.tho Treasurer, read tho audited balance-sheet.show-ing a credit balance of £20. The total receipts for tho year, including balance of £o brought forward, wore £109. members' subscriptions, amounted to £97. The Club's liabilities were J£loo, and tho assets were valued at £oG. On tho motion of the President, seconded by .Mr C. Lamb, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tho election of oflicers resulted as follows :— Patron, Mr John Graham, M.11.R. (re-elected); President, Mr C. Lamb : Vice-President, Mr E. G. Wilson. ; Secretary, Mr W. A. Dee ( re-elected ): Treasurer, Mr C. J. McEachon (re-elected); General Committee. Messrs Armstrong, Condeli, G. Dee, Hobbs, W. Hockey, J. McEachen, G. M. Simpson (after n ballot) ; Honorary Auditor, Mr .1. Milner: Trustees, Messrs G. M. Simeon and W. A. Dee (re-elected): Match Committee, Messrs J. Mel'Jachen, G. Dee, W. Hockey (after a ballot) : Ground Committee, Messrs J. M. Calder, G, Dee. t;.,e Prs dident and the Secretary. Some discussion ensued on the proposal to affiliate with the Northern Howling Association, and eventually, on the motion of Mr Condell, seconded by Mr E. Richards, it was unanimously resolved to affiliate. I A Sub-Committee was set up to interview Messrs Bisley Bros, in reference to the purchase of the green. Jn the event of a reasonable offer being made.it was decided that I a special meeting of members be called. A motion svas carried unanimously tb:if- for the future tho Club pay for no alcoholic liquor except when playing clubs from outside, and on opening day. A discuasion ensued on the proposal to ercet a two-storey pavilion, to cost about £100. It was resolved that a pavilion be erected before £he opening of the next season-. It was stated that the tro-pbiea available- for this year would be the President"**, ex- President's, Brown and Kerr's buckles, Q.M. Simpson's T.|S. Chisholm^, and W. Moves'. Several other matters were brought up by members and discussed, and the meeting closed with thanks to the retiring officers, the ladies, and ■ till who had assisted the Club, the Press, and the Chairman.
