RESOLUTIONS OF SYMPATHY*. reference was made to the death of the late Premier by delegates at the annual Provincial Conference, held at Richmond on Tuesday afternoon. Before cbe meeting was commenced, the following resolution, proposed by Messrs Tunni clilTe and Ruffel, was passed: — "That this meeting of the Nelson .Provincial Branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, in Conference Hssembled, desire to place on record theii sincere sorrow at the loss sustained by the Colony in the death of the Premier, the Eight Hon. R. J. Seddon, P. C., and also to express our sincere sympathy with Mrs Seddon and family in their sad bereavement, and to the ActingPremier, our profound sorrow at the loss the Government has sustained in the removal by death of so able and distingushed a statesman, and Leader, as the deceased gentleman has always proved himself to be, and j that copies of the resolution be for- j warded to Mrs Seddon and to the | Acting Premier. " Mr J. Bruce, the President of the Wakeneld Branch of the Farmers 1 Union, at the Branch meeting on Tuesday evening, also referred in ' feelingand appropriate language to the loss sustained by the Colony, and the shock to the people caused by the death of the Premier. He also referred to the great work that Mr Seddon had been engaged upon in Australia, and the good results th^t must enque : work that must live in the memory of the people of Australia as in New Zealand. Resolved, on the motion of Mr floult, seconded by Mr Higgins, that this Branch "is in accord with the resolution passed by the Conference at Richmond.
