TIMBER ROYALTIES, PELORUS.
I Blenheim, February 3. The Pelorua Road Board has been ! informed that the Receiver of L*nd I Revenue has been notified by the Audit Department that halves of royalties received upon timber cut in State forests is not payable to local bodies under the Timber and Flax Royalties Act of 1905. As all the sawmill licenses'in this district are in State forests the royalties will be practically nil if the Audit Department is correct. The Board expected £100 from this source, and is much disappointed. It has communicated - with Mr Mills, who has wired that the Cabinet has been unable to discuss the matter in the absence of Sir J. G. "Ward.
