H.M.S. PINAFORE. ' (From Our Own Correspondent). Despite the unfavorable weather last evening, the Oddfellows' Hall waa again packed to the doors, when j Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera "H.M.S. Pinafore" was repeated in aid of the Oddfellows. The performance was, if anything, more successful than on the first night, the principals evidently feeling more at home in their various parts. As Sir Joseph Porter, X.C.8., Mr Wilmot scored an immense success, and wa9 recalled for his solo "When ( I was a boy," Mr Buckeridge was ( again very successful as Captain Corcoran, and receiveda well merited . encore for his solo "I am the Cap- [ tain of the Pinafore." Mr Wan- . stall again made a capital Dick [ Deadeye, and received a floral tribute for his solo and duet wifch the Cap- ■ tain. Mr O'Connor as Ralph was I" more successful than on his first | appearance, his acting being much <■ better, while he sang in splendid style last night. His item with Josephine was a rare treat, and well deserved the encore that was ac- ' corded. As the boas wain, Mr W. * May was very good ; and as Buter--1 cup, Miss Morgan proved very suc--1 eessful, and was recalled for her solo "I'm called Little Buttercup," also her duet with the Captain. She was the recipient of a handsome floral tribute, which was well deserved. Miss Sadd made a charming Josephine, and sang splendidly, ' her several items bringing" forth hearty applause. Mrs Orford as Hebe was all that could be desired. The choruses, on the whole, went better last night, having a real jovial swing with them, and several had to V repeated. The sailor's hornpipe i> / Master Res Jones was a capital ' item, and was encored. The orchestra, consisting of Miss Petrie(piano), MiBS Pike (organ), Mr Meyer (cornet), Mr Kingston (violin), under the baton of Mr Webb, again materially asssisted towards the success of the performance. Rumor hath it that the piece will probably be played at Wakefield shortly, and if this is so there is a treat in store for the Wakefield people. The production throughout has been a marked success, and we trust it will not be the last of the kind to be produced here. Richmond, Sept, 13th.
