NELSON ANGLERS' CLUB.
On Sept. 7th the members of the Nelson Anglers' Club held a social gathering in the Dresden rooms, iMr A. W. Tatton presiding. Thert was a large attendance of membeis, and a very pleasant time was spent with music, son?, and story. A formal toast list was dispensed with, the only toast honored being the Auglers' Club, proposed.; by Dr. Andrew, and responded to by Mr O. W. Hanby, one of the Vice-Presi-dents. The Chairman, in his opening remarks, thanked the gathering for asking him to preside, and expressed the hope that trout fishing in Nelson would prosper. To encourage fishermen, he offered a prize for the most skilful angler with the fly, and also a prize for the best fisherman under eighteen years of age. Colonel Wood, the President, wrote apologising _ for his absence, and offering ; a prize, to be awarded by the Committee. Other apologies for absence were received from Drs. Gibbs and Orford, Messrs P. B. Adams, H. O. Livick, E. G. Stapp, Clifford, C. Tatton, O. A. Seymour, Geo. Chapman, J. Oldham, R. B Jackson, and C. J. Harley. Cards were indulged in, and between times Messrs Condell, Jackson, Stobfcns, T. Houlker, Hanby, Dr. Hamilton, and Mansford contributed to the harmony of the evening. Refreshments were provided on a liberal scale, and a thoroughy enjoyable evening was. spent, '
