TERRIBLE FIRE IN SHOE FACTORY.

140 CHARRED BODIES RECOVERED. Received March 21, 9.54 p.m. New York, March 21. Owing to old boilers being used while the new were under repair an explosion set fire to Grover's shoe factory at Brockton, Massachusetts. The fire traversed another building, and demolished a dwelling house a hundred feet beyond. Many employees were incinerated on the floor over the boiler room, and the rapidity of the flames prevented the rescue of the injured. About 140 charred unrecognisable bodies were recovered.
