THE VOLUNTEERS.

The Voluneers returned from the Easter camp at Blenheim at halfpast seven yesterday morning, the Tutanekai coming up under slow steam. The country men immediately entrained, and were thus enabled to go home by the eight o'clock train. The passage both ways was delightful, and the stewards of the steamer were most attentive. Quartermaster Whitwell and SefgeantMajor Healy remained behind for a few days to strike camp. The camp is acknowledged to have been a most useful one, and each unit had the privilege of worfcing in - combination. The work arranged and carried out was applicable in many repseets to that of active service lines, although, of course, it should have taken as many /lays as it did hours to thoroughly accomplish it. One of the principal features of the camp was the long range shooting indulged in, ranging at 2000 to 1600 yards, and in point of average the mounted men did the better shooting. . Disappointment was experienced by those of the Wakatu Mounted Rifles who journeyed by steamer in not having horses provided for them. It was understood that horses were to be available at camp, but this was not the case, and dismounted parades had to be held in consequence. There is little doubt but that the camp just concluded will be looked back upon as being one of the most useful, instructive, and up -to date yet held. Theie was a great keenness for work, and Major . lattlejohn's lectnres to the officers and non-commissioned officers of the infantry portion were most helpful.
