Madrid, April 10. The Spanish Government, yielding to the overtures of th 6 Pope, and the Powers favors peace andhas conceded an armistice to the Cuban insurgents. Washington, April 10. The Americans greatly appreciate the tact displayed by Sir Julian Paunceforte in drafting the recent appeal by the representatives of the Powers to the President in favor of peace. It is considered that it was couched in such terms that assistance was given to Pr sident McKinley in his efforts to maintain peace without ofihnding American susceptibilities
