ACOIDENT TO THE REV. E. C. ISAAC.
On Jan. 19, we regret to say, the Rev. E. C. Isacc met with an accident whilst riding his bicycle along the Cable Bay road. It appears that the bicycle skidded and went into a rut, toppling the rider over when the rev. gentleman sustained a fracture of the leg below the knee. He was observed, about half-pasttwelve, by Mr R. Martin who was riding his bicycle towards the Cable Station, preceding a vehicle containing members of his family and Mr A. Levy, who is here on a visit from Palmerston North. Mr Isaac was then sitting on the side of the road, and Mr Martin was passing when the rev. gentleman called to him that he had broken his leg, Mr Martin at once stopped and on the trap coming up offered to drive Mr Isaao to town at once, but that gentleman requested Mr Martin to go on
and inform Mr Browning the Superintendent at the Cable Station. Mr Martin thereupon rode on to the Cable Station as quiekly as he could while the members of his party did what* thpv could to relieve the sufferer," and tiu-y lighiod ;i i--C- ..i_.i_ m.i/le some tea. Mr Browning lost no time in sending a trap with some mattrasses, splints tte, and Mr Brennan accompanied the trap. Mr Levy had done all he could and the injured man was placed in the trap and brought to town by Mr Brennan.
