The attendance at Richmond Park on Feb. lst, was very small, only some 500 being present. No doubt counter attractions kept ' many away. There was a disagreeable wind ' blowing all day, which made things very unpleasant. The racing was very tame, caused, no doubt, through the handicapping, the only good finish beiug in the last race of the day, when Bradlaugh beat F.B. The sum of £739 10s passed through the totalisator, which was worked by Mr F. N. Jones, who gave every satisfaction. The Orphanage Band played selections during the day. There was only one protest, but that took up some time, and the last race was finished just before five o'clock, when a rush was made to catch the five o'clock train, but that left so punctual that on arrival at the station some two or three minutes after the time a large number of persons had to wait for an hour and a quarj ter for the next train. Mr Glen, the Hon. Secretary, as usual, worked hard to make things go smoothly. Mr Bartlett fulfilled his duties as judge satisfactorily, as did also Mr Hunter as timekeeper. The following are the results : — Anniversary Handicap Trot, in harness of 25 sov3 ; one mile and a half ; second horse 3 sovs from stakes. 110— W. Orange's Lady Ashley, 23 sees 1 64— E. The owner of Star of Honor put in a protest against Trickster on the ground of galloping, and at the instance of the owner, Mr A. Trask was put up on Trickster to see if the horse would trot, and after hearing j his opinion the Stewards did not uphold the j protest and the stakes were awarded to Trickster.
