LOYAL NELSON LODGE.
TWENTY-FOURTH ANNIVERSARY. There was a good attendance at the Foresters' Hall on Jan 28th, when the 24th anniversary of the abovenamed Lodge was celebrated. The Lodge is the pioneer Good Templar Lodge of the Nelson district, and was among the first half dozen instituted in this Colony. The programme was a varied one, and in the first part the juvenile Templars gave some scenes from the fairy story of " Cinderella." Mr D. Watson and Miss Higgins contributed a couple of solos, the former securing an encore. The Lodge choir gave several of the Fisk melodies. Mr W. T. Bond (a Charter member) gave a brief sketch of the growth of the Order in this Colony and internationally. He also referred to seventeen brothers and four sisters who had been removed by death since the Lodge had been instituted. An exceedingly humorous sketoh entitled " The Bobby's Courtship" brought the programme to a close. The performers took their respective parts very well, and elicited rounds of applause from the audience. The National Anthem brought the proceedings to a close. Miss L. Watson deserves credit for the careful manner in which she had trained the juveniles, and Mr Vercoe for the success of the farce, he aoting as manager.
