Wellington Harbor Board.

Wellington, February 14. The Haibor Board elections to-day created considerable Interest in commercial circles, the candidates being either supporters or opponents of the proposed dock for Wellington. As the Chamber of Commerce representative Mr T. W. Gale, a dock candidate, defeated Mr J. B. Harcourt by 54 to 30. The payers of dues and shipowners, returned Mr N. Beid, opposed to the dock, against Mr P. Hutson, by 76 to 04. The ratepayers poll resulted as follows: — Mr Cable, 1690; Mr Beauchamp, 1543; Mr Luke, 1463 ; Mr Jack, 1190. The first two are elected. Mr Cable favors the dock, and Mr Beauchamp opposes. In the country little interest was taken, and Mr Booth was elected for Wairarapa, and Mr Cook was elected for Hutt County.
