London, Febraary 14. Despatches from General Sir George White, who is relinquishing the chief command of the army ia India, in reference to the campaign on the Nor.h- West frontier, specially compliments Major Des Vodux, commanding 136th Sikhs, upon his brilliant defence of Fort Gulistan against a large force of tribesmen in September last. The Queen has visited the Boyal Victoria Military Hospital ac Netley, which is crowded with 600 soldiers invalided from India in consequence of wounds sustained while fighting on the frontier.
