THE SEAMEN'S CLAIMS.
A conference between representatives of the ship owners and of the Seamen's Union touching the reet muesd'jtions cf she Conciliation Ciurt recently held in Welliogcon took place in the Empire City yesterday, and wa learn that the following understandings were then arrived at. In the first plaoe the addition cf ten shillings per month in wages was agreed to. Secondly, is was agreed that Boxing Day should be added to the holidays previously acknowledged. It was also agreed tbat delegates of tbe Seam n'a Union should have the privilege of visiting ship 3 during meal honra only. The clause relative to Unionists being given priority of employment is to Btand in abeyance for three months, and if the prerent arrangement, giving freedom of contract to engage either U: ioniets or nonUnionists continues to work satisfactorily, then the clause referring there o is to be s'ruok out of the award.
