' Chribtohdbch, December 29. At the Kaiapoi Magistrate's Court to-day, Mr Biebop, 8.M., presiding, Mr J. A. Flestur asked permission to withdraw a petition of fifty eleotord for an enquiry relative to the lccal option poll. Mr Ifiesher, who appeared oa beLalt of the petitioners, said that owing to the action of ons of the daily pßpera in pub ishing the Dames of tbe petitioners, much barm and mischief bad been oaußed, and even threatß had been ÜBed towards some perporiß who bad under a wrong idea signed their names, their desire bein« Bimply to obtain a recount of vote?.
