OHRiSTCHOROfI, September 26. ,At a meeting of the Hospital Board to-day, niattera arising oat of the report of the recent Obmmißsion of Enquiry were further considered/ It was resolved to instruct the Bouse Surgeon and the Matron to bring the eight hours' system, as regards nursing, into operation as soon an possible. The House Committee reported that they had given one i of (he old nurses six months leave of absence and asked another to reeign. Their action was confirmed, two members of the Board dissenting. The Committee recommended, fn oonsequenoe of tbe position taken up by Dr. Stewart at the recent enquiry that Mb name should be erased from the list of honorary consulting surgeons. The recomhiendation was adopted. A resolution aeking the Chief Wardsman Brown to resign j was rescinded, and he was granted three months' leave of absence on full pay, and aaked to retire on Ootober Ist. Dr. Fenwiok was appointed Assistant Besident Medical Officer. The Honorary Staff wrote proteiting against % resolution, passed at last meeting, ihßtruoting the House Surgeon to report to the Board any laxity on the part of the Honorary Staff in amending to their respective oase.B, and making suggestion that in place of the method proposed by the Board, the House Burgeon should be instructed to report to the Chairman of the Honorary Staff any member who failed in his duty; the Chairman would then lay the matter before the Staff, and, if necessary, report the member to the Board. Tbe matter was referred back to the Committee for further consideration.
