London, September 11. The Southern Cross, which has arrived at GraveseDd, lost altogether fifty-two bullocks, and theLindeforß eighty-t»o cheep and one hone. The rest cf the utook arrived in good condition Tb.p supply of fodder was just BufiQoieni for tbe voyage. The mortality was due to exposure arid heavy weather round Cape Born; also to overcrowding. Only three of the bullocks on the upper deck died. London, September 12. About 70 per cetit of the Southern Cross' osttle arrived in good condition ; the remainder arrived poor, and some regard the | shipment aa too old. Experts believe that the mortality was largely dne to rough handling in Sydney, and ad visa that further care be exercised in shipping beasts. Later. Eight of Berpyl's cattle by tbe Southern Cross, one of Drgan's, and three of Loader's died. The mortality was greatest amongst tbe Durhams. The Hereford's did fairly well, •ndDevons admirably. The horses fared well, and will be turned out to grass at Thames Eaven. The 'Times,' discussing the shipping of live oattle, considers the experimental stage has been satisfactorily passed, End that the trade has formally began.
