THE NELSON FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the mem bera of this Olob was held at the Commercial Hotel on April 2, when there was a good attendance, and Mr P, Topliss Vice-Presidenl oocupied the ohair.

Mr R W. Shalloraßß, the Hon. Secretary, read tbe minotes of the previous general meeting; whioh iwere confirmed, snd the balanoe eheet showed a credit balanoe of £10 15s lld in oaßb as well as otber assets making in all £23 4s lld, with liabilities nil.

The report was theni read, whioh relet red to tbe Buoossses aobieved by the Club in the Senior Championship, and urged the juniors to renewed and greater efforts.

Tbe Ohairman referred in terms of Batisfaotion to tbe very considerable balance, and was glad to see tbat the kindnes* of the ladies had been reoognised in the report. He aleo spoke of the suooess of the ball, and said be did not think tbey should allow the servioes of Mr J. B. Sadd to go by without acknowledgment. A letter had been reoeived from Mr Sadd asking that his name might be oontinued on tbe list of members, and wishing the old Ciub suooess. He hoped otherß would continue their intereßt. Relative to tbe annual ball, he expressed a bope that aa great a sucoess would be aobieved tbis year as last. He believed that an athletio meeting held in tbe summer time would eerve as an impetus to keep up the interest in the Club. The Chairman added that they had eeveral trophies, and they would have to discuss what was to be done witb one or two of these. wx

Mr G. Harper moved tbe adoption of the report and a vote of thanks to the ladies for tbeir kind efforts, which resulted in placing their finances in their present very satisfactory position.

Mr Milner seconded the motion, whiob was oarried unanimously.

Fourteen new member b were then duly e'ect* d, after whicb the eleotion of officers waß [proceeded with. Mr R. W. Shallcrass was nnanimoußly chosen Seoretary and Treasurer; Mr G. A. Harkness was reeleoted President ; Meesrs Topliss, T. Glasgow, J. D. Thompson, W. N. Poole, J. B. Sadd, senior, and Dr Gibbs were elected Vice-Presidents ; and Mr Cresswell wbb reelected Honorary Captain. The following members were eleoted as the Management Ocmmittse— Messrs Milner, N. Levies, Atmore, E, Levien, and Atkinson; and Mebßrs Walker, Poole, Harper, Hballorasa, atd N. Levien aB Delegates to the Rugby Union.

Tbe Seoretary read a letter from the Athletio Olub ot Wellington, challenging tbe Nelson Olub to play tbem at Easter, and asking that an annnal fixture be made for Easter. Mr Shalloraßß said tbe Committee felt that as some of their men would be engaged rowing at the Pioton Regatta, and othera would be away at Esster, it would be better to ofier the Qaeen's Birthday bb the annual fixture. The suggestion was approved of, and it was agreed to aot in accordance therewith.

Some disoussion tben took place as to opening the season. It was said that tbe last crioket matoh of the season would be played at the Park on Saturday next, but that tbe Park would not be available till tbe Rugby Union had made its fixtures. Ultimately it wbb agreed, ou tbe motion of Mr Atkinson, seoonded by Mr G. Hai par, t-> open tbe season on the Satarday following Easter, and^to invite memberß ot other clubs to take pari in the opening matob. Mr G. Harper proposed that they thank their late Seoretary, Mr J. B. Sadd, for his very energetio efforts on behalf of the Club for two or three seasons, and that tbat gentleman be eleoted a life member.

Mr Milner seconded the motion, which was oarried.

It was agreed to secure a room for meetings and the oonvenienoe of members, and a suggestion by Mr N. Levien that they should join witb the Rowing Club in obtaining the use of the All Saints Gymnasium certain I evenings in the week, was received with favor, and enquiries are to be made. • Mr N. Levien moved a vote of thanks ta the Press, for their interesting and full reports, and alao for publishing the names of player*. Mr Milner seconded the motion, wbioh was adopted. After the disposal of come other business, the meetiog ended with a hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman.
