To the Editor of the Colonist. Sib,— l nojice in tbe ' Takaka Newß ' of the 28th ult., a notice of the intention of the T»k»ka Road Board to take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £2500 for the erection of two car i bridges over the Takaka Biver, at Paine's Ford and Lindsay's Ford, respectively ; also to levy a rate of one farthing in the £, as a aecmity for repayment of the above ; and farther— the Board convenes a meeting of ratepayers for the 13th inst. to consider the Above proposal; ' ■ Now, to b'eginwith this matter, I am quite of opinion that the bridges are necessary, bat it appisais to me that the Board is " starling ; before it ia ready, 11 for the reason; that there is no bona 'We data to go upon yet, beyond the fact that Manson Bros informed the Board that they could and would build the iwo bridges for the sum stated to the Board. Possibly they could, and. satisfactorily so too.
