FOOTBALL.
The annual general meeting of the AlMon Football Club to k plaoe on Wedmsday evening, at the TraMgar Ho'el, when theie were »>botn 40 roembeis present. The P^pident, Mr W W. Chi-bolm, occui ied the elixir, and opened the meeting with an encouraging Fpe?ch. ccgratuliting both tearon on the wiuning of tbe Senior and Junior Cups ptefented by the Rugby Union also urging the member-, alibojgh they have lost Bevfrtl of their senior players, to work systematically, BDd try and do-away wi'h tbe unnecessary bad feeling which has so ong existed amongst the Nelpoa footballers.
Tbo bthnoe sheet and report which was read and adopted, showed the Club to be in a floirishing cinditiun. la the election of officers the following were unanimously re-elected:-Mr W. W. Chisholm, President; Mr E Trask, Vice-Pre»id*nt ; Mr A. Davi3, Hon Captain ; and Mr C. Bird, Field Captain. Mr Wra Dee was elected to act as Secretary and Treasurer. The following gentlemen were obosen to represent the Club as a Match and Management Con mil tee : — Messrs Trask, t lapbam, Davis, Bird, and A. Grant. The delegates to th« Rugby Union w^re »1 cted as follows : — Messrs Chisholm, Davis, Trask, Bird, and W. Dee. A'ter a slight discussion it was resol?e3, as a number of young memb rs were joining, to allow the eubscri tion to stand at 2b 6d, to be due by the 1 t cf June.
A telegiam was rpad from the Secretary of the Orient*! Football Club, of Wellington, regretting their inability to meet the Albions as usual in their annual match at Batter, and expressing their wish to meet them at Wellioeton on the 24tb of May, but after a long disoupsion it was ultimatey resolved that a trip to Blenheim would be more convenient. The Secretary was instructed to try and arrange matches at Blenheim with both the local Ciubs on the 23rd and 25ih of May.
Owing to the large number of new members joining tbe Club it was deemed necessary to enter one senior and two junior teams for the Cup compet : tionp, as last year a large Dambr of members were nnablej to secure a game. A lively discussion took place as regards the best means to open the season. A proposal to open with a costume match was lost, and it was ultimately decided to open with a scratch ma'cn in tbe Botanical Reserve on Satnrday next at 3 o'clock, when members of oiher Clubs will be most we'eotne.
Before the meeting was brought to a close, the Chairman rose and said that it was wi h regret that the Club was about to lore one of its mo-t energetic membersio Mr E. Whisweli, who. he believed, was going to seek ffßh fields far from Nelson, and expre? sing| his desire tha u }|tbe{ other memberß, knowing of their loss, would put their shoulders to the wbeel and try and fill the gap caused by Mr Wbiiweli's absence. On Mr Wbitwell responding, he Baid it wsb also with regret (hat be was leaving bo miny chump, bat whereever he might be it wonld be bis great desire to hear of the Albions being successful, after which a hearty vo*e of thanks was accorded him, and his health was drunk. The usual vote of (banks to the chairman brought the meeting to a olose.
