He has been carried down on a stretcher, and will go by the steamer, which leaves early in the morning. There is a rumor of a man who has been working at Fern Town being missing. The Constable has been away all day ; if it proves to be so I will send you a wire. This man was one of the witnesses in (Joss's case at the last Supreme Court.

In my last I Btated the return match between the Oollingwocd and the West Wanganui teams was to take place on the Saturday. They were rather late in kicking off, but onoe commenced there was no lack of travelling, i for they kept the ball travelling continually by a number of splendid kioks. The second 40 was as lively as it was possible to be. The referee, Mr Whiteborn, had no easy time of it. The result of the match was, that the Collingwood team got two goals, and the West Wanganuiites a try. There was considerably lesa really rough play than we have'often seen. It was about half- past five before the game ended. After leaving the ground and having had time to " dress," they sat down to a splendid spread at the Commercial Hotel, which gave universal satisfaction. A number of toasts were proposed, and some capital songs given by members of one or the other Olubs. A vote of thanks was voted to Mr Whitehorn for the impartial and straightforward manner in which he had acted in the triple capaoity as umpire for both sides as also referee, and to Mr and Mrs Gledhill for the attention paid them and the excellent set out.
