L-xell, May 2. The Alpine mine manager reports as follows t— the drive in the north level is throngh the stone, which is 20 feet wide in one, the north side, and 12 feet on the sooth. I am rioNff a tariiiig to drive along the reef. Fair gold is to be Been throughout the stone. The south level has only been extended three feet, owing to the men being engaged in pulling up the air winch and timber for same. There ib no ohange in the level on the atope. The cleaning up at the battery took place on Tuesday, the rasult being 2640z of retorted gold from 470 tons of stone treated.
