STOKE ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held at the office, Bichtaond, on Saturday last, all tbe members being present. The Overseer's report for the month was < read as follows;— The day men have been i employed during the month principally in . repairing the roadi. The Stoke man will fiaish a piece of forming about Tueiday, on the Orphanage road, rendered necessary through Mr Trolove having given the Board aotice that he intended to creel ft fence on hii boundary, next the ro&d now used, which has been made partly on his land. I find it will be necessary to lengthen the bridge en this road, as the line of fence will apeil the approach. Some patching I found was necessary on the main road dowa to Appleby Bridge, which has been done, also gome repairs oa Mr Best's road. The pipes ordered for the hollow by Mr T. H. Gifford'a are placed in position. There ia about ten chains of gravelling reqaired on Oapper's road, aleo about ten chains of ro&d from Mr Barnicoat's to the Town boundary require repair*. I omitted in the Btoka subdisiriet, that the water tables on Jenkins' Hill . I find are filled up, and it it neossary to have toiae paring done and the road repaired as soon as possible. The Overseer was instructed to attend to the bridge on Mr Ssxton'a road at Stoke. Resolved—That tenders be called by I»i urday next for paring both sides of the road ob Jenkins' Hiil from the City boundary to tbe railway crossing, 'and that th.9 Beeretary and tbe members for the district •ecept the most eligible tender. Resolved—That James Button's tender for fcamiuf on Elljs'e road at 3s per eltaio be toc»pted.

Besolved-That the tender of W. P. Green for forming on MeSbane'g road at 9a 6d per chain bo accepted, also for gravelling on Sutton's load at 14s Cd per chain. Resolved—That the following tenders be accepted for forming at Stoke i-^-Contract No 1, Orphanage road, C. Allporf. 4s 10d per chain; do. No 2, J. O'Connell 53 per chain; do. No 3, E. Holmes £7 9s the job } do. No 4, E. Christian £8 15s the job. For the beach road, grubbing brit»r3, &c, J. Burgess £3 tbe job. For repairing part of Poor Man a Valley road, E. Holmes 7s 2d per chain. Beßolved—That Mr Henry Holdftwav'a request with respect to the rebate on bi» promissory note be granted. An offer was received. of a lot of broken stones at Hope from Mr C. Nippert, which was declined for the present, as the Board has no immediate \ise for the «ame Resolved-That the Secretary enquire of the Board's solicitors, as to the title to the Board's office and land at Richmond—also about the ' Gazette' notice of the boundaries •f the sub-dis!rict3. Resolved—That the Chairman and Mr Philip Best be authorised to sign the deed of agreement between tbe Board and Mr Robt. M. Smith, the Secretary, and to affix tho seal of the Board thereto. Resolved—That tbe Secretary renew the insurance on the office buiiding in the name of the Chairman of the Stoke Koad Board. Tb.3 accounts for the past month amount* ing to £71 6s lid were passed for payment.
