The usual monthly, meeting of the above was held to-day. Present: Messrs .JBaruicoat (chairman), Campbell, Hili, Rout, Fell, Webster, Atkinson, the Bishop of ; Nelson,' Archdeacon Thorpe, Martin, Cressweli, Burn, Malcolm, and Holder. '•

Minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed

A letter was read from the Westport ;Comanttee, approving, of the proposal of the Board to sell the present school buildings, and erect new ones on a fresh sight. The Board adopted the reporb of the Permanent Sub-Committee, to tbo effect that it is not expedient at present to constitute any new educution districts on the West Coa9t.

It was resolved that, to enable the Spring Grove Committee to fence a portion of the northern boundary of the school land, £3 4s be paid to them, on their giving a certificate that.the fence is put up in the ri ht place. It was resolved that £12 be allowed for taking down the partition ar.d otherwise improving the school properly at Dovedale. It was resolved that the offer of the Port Fire Brigade to let the school-room at the toot of RussellBtreet, together with the furniture, for six months, at seven ehillings a week, be accepted, occupancy to begin February Ist, 1876.

It was rcsolvbd that, as soon as the conveyance to the Board of the school and site at Ferntown is executed, the unpaid balance of £40 on the building be handed over to the Aorere Committee.

A letter haying been read from Messrs Adams and Kingdon, informing the Board that W. Earsman decliued to sign the lease of the Amuri reserve until the land has been surveyed, it was resolved—" That Messrs Adams and Kingdon be informed that the Board will undertake to get the land surveyed." Tbe Secretary was instructed to apply to the Provincial Government to have the land burveyed.

Mr Bukn gave notice that he would move that a sum of money be granted to the Aorere Committee, to enable them to provide school furniture.

Mr Fell gave notice that he would move, That the resolution of the Board of April 4t.h, 1872, with reference to bringing land under the Laud Transfer Act, be recindea, so far as it refers to land now held by the Board under direct grant from the Crowu. The report of the Exan iuers for Provincial and Governors' scholarships having been laid before the Board, Mr Malcolm gave notice that he would move, That the sum hitherto devoted to reading prizes be this year appropriated to tbe recommedation of the Examiners as to rewarding two candidates, Bullard and Feist, who distinguished themeevesl at the exumination. Mr Atkinson gave notice that he would move, That as it is the intention of the Q-overnment to introduce a general Education Act for the whole Colony during the coming session, a committee bo appointed, Ist, to consider whether it is not desirable that the Central Board should address the Government or the General Assembly upon the question of education, 2nd, to draw up and submit, for the consideration of tbe Board, such an address (if any) as the committee may think it desiruble Bhould be adopted. Mr Hoxdee gave notice he would move, Tbat £10 be granted to the Upper Wakefieid Committee for painting the Fox Hill sohool. Mr Maetin gave notice he would move.That £22 10s be paid to W. iiarnett, this oeitig the amount of head money lost by him owing to the substitution of an assistant pupil toucher a year aud u-half before the inspiration of tbe usual time. ••• j,a.iU overdraft, January 1, £376 2s lOd.
