Londox, June 7. Mr. James Sladen, of Victoria, and Mr. Turville, formerly Private Secretary to Lord Lisgar in Sydney, have been appointed Knights Commander of the Order of St. Michael and Sfc. George. A despatch from Earl Carnarvon to Governor Barkly at the Cape, proposes a conference of delegates from the Colonies, and the (States of South Africa, for the consideration of a scheme of confederation.
The San Francisco mails were delivered on June 2nd.
I The wool sales proceed satisfactorily. The salea will conclude on the 17th instant. 'X'he wheat market is languid ; New Zealand, 445. to 468. Money is, easier. The stock market has improved, as apprehensive of money being dearer. Arrived—Excelsior, May Queen, Duke of Edinburgh. The Australian mails, via Brindisi, are delivered. A revolt has occurred in Baroda, and the infant son of the Q-uicowar's daughter was placed upon the throne by the excited populace. The revolt was ultimately suppressed. Cholera is raging in India, people having actually been attacked and died in railway trains.
