Interprovincial. Wellington, Friday. The Taranaki sailed at half-past two to-day with the following saloon passengers :—iVfr and Mrs Perry, Miss O'Hallorhan, Mr and Mrs Battersby, Mrs Richmond, Miss M'Calister, Mrs Webley, Messrs M'Calißter, Payne, Corfee, Duncan, Levy, and. Marks. Mr O'Shea reports :—Flour, Canterbury, £12 10s to £13; Oamaru, £13 to £13 10s; oatmeal, £24; bran, £12 Is 3d; barley, pearl, £25 ; wheat, no sale; oats, 5s 3d to 5s 6d, old; new, 5?; hams, Is 2d ; bacon, lid to Is; cheese, new, 7£d; old, 9d. The cricket match between Wellington and Marton was won by the former, with six wickets to go down. The match occupied two full days. Captain Mundle, formerly of the steamer Paterson, has been appointed pier master. There were four
applicants. The ahip Berar will bo admitted to pratique to-day. CHHISTOHtTEOH, Thursday. A fire broke out early this morning, but, was oonfinedtothe large stables and out-buildings at the rear of the White Swan Hotel. The total damage is about £100, which is partly covered by insurance in the London Livorpool and Globe, South British. and National Companies, the bulk being in the former, Friday. New oats, 3s 6d to 4s 9d; wheat, no new in market yet; bran, £6 ; sharps, £6 103 ; flour, £12 10s to £13 10a; millers' stooks down. At the Interprovincial cricket match Canterbury v. Otago, the former made 354 in the first innings. J. Fowler scored 48, not out.
Napiee, Thursday. There is much illness in the Province amongst children. One of the immigrants per Clarence has died of typhoid fever. New Plymouth, Thursday. An attempt has been made to burn down the Catholic priest's house, but the fire was discovered and put out before much damage was done. The fire brick lining of the blast furnace afc the steel works has been commenced, and the furnace will be ready in three months. All the immigrants per Avalanche have found employment at wages ranging from 6a to 8s per day. The single girls obtained situation! at once, and more are wanted.
Auckland, Friday. The millers have lowered the price of flour £2 per ton .to-day. The Wesleyan Conference fixed the various stations in Nelson District as follows :—Nelson: Revs T. Buddie and W. Keall; Motueka : Rev W. B. Marten; Blenheim: Re-v G. S. Harper and one wanted ; Hokitika : Rev J. S. Eishworth ; Greymouth : Rev D. M'Nicol > Rev T. Buddie, Chairman. At the Wesleyan Conference the following estimate charges upon the Home Mission Fund were passed : —Auckland, £489; Taranaki, £200; Wellington, £294; Nelson, £50; Canterbury, £220; Otago, £25.
