RICHMOND.
WAIMEA ROAD BOARD,
The annual meeting of ratepayers in the Waimea districts to elect three members of the Road Board to fill the vacancies consequent on the retirement in rotation of Messrs. Barnieoat, Baigent, and Morse, whose term of office had expired according to the provisions of the " County Roads Act," was held on Monday (July 3rd), at twelve o'clock, at the Agricultural Hall, in Richmond. Mr. W. Harkness having been voted to the chair, read those clauses of the Act referring to the subject in hand, and called upon such persons present as should be qualified to propose candidates.
Mr. Barnicoat was proposed by Mi*. Baigent, and seconded by Mr. C. Stratford.
Mr. C. Stbatfobd proposed by Mr. Boddington, and seconded by Mi\ C. H. Ford.
Mr. Baigent proposed by Mr. Morse, and seconded by Mr. John Palmer. Mr. W. A. Morrison proposed by Mr. Midgley, and seconded by Mr. T. Andrews.
Mr. H. J. L. Augarde proposed by Mr. John Mercer, and seconded by Mr. Morse.
On a show of hands, the Chairman declared that 11 appeared for Messrs. Barnicoat and Baigent, 10 for Mr. Stratford, 4 for Mr. Morrison, and 1 for Mr. Augavde.
Whereupon a poll was demanded by Mr. Augarde, and on behalf of Mr. Morrison.
Messrs. R. Malcolm and W. Hildreth were elected to audit the yearly accounts of the Board. The voting is to take place on Monday, July 10, at four several places in the district.
