WAIKATO HOSPITAL
APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING The Royal Australian College of Surgeons has approved the Waikato Hospital for apprenticeship training purposes in accordance with the terms of the regulations governing admission to Fellowship of the College. Advice to this effect was received by the Waikato Hospital Board at its monthly meeting. “That means we are on the way to becoming an open hospital,” said Mr. H. D. Caro, chairman. Recommendations v;ould. be brought by a committee to the next meeting of the board. It was proposed to apply to the English College of Surgeons for membership. When the application was granted the hospital would be declared an open hospital. “Then we can have honorary staff at the hospital able to look after certain classes of specialty work,” said Mr. Caro.
