FLOWER SHOW
METHODIST LADIES’ GUILD SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION A very successful flower show was held in the Bryant Hall on Thursday, 14th inst., sponsored by the Methodist Ladies’ Guild. The president, Mrs. Jolly, welcomed ail visitors and friends and specially thanked Mr. Rainey and Mr. Marx for their kindness in judging the entries. A pleasing feature of the afternoon - was the exhibition of some beautiful hothouse plants and orchids by Mr. Marx, who also gave some helpful hints on flowers for show purposes. Mi. Rainey gave some useful advice on staging daffodils. The winners of the various sections were:— Daffodils Collection of six, Mrs. Murray 1, Mr. A. Smart 2, Mr. P. Chapman 3; one large trumpet, Mr. P. Chapman 1 and 3, Mrs. Murray 2; three daffodils, Mr. P. Chapman 1, Mr. A. Smart 2 and 3; ranunuculus, Mrs. Hart 1, Mrs. Chapman 2, Mrs. Glass 3; anemones, Mrs. Glass 1, Mr. P'. Chapman 2; polyanthus, Mrs. Berry 1 and 3, Mrs. Murray 2; stock, Mrs. Hart 2; any other flower, Mrs. E. Collinson 1, P. Chapman 2, Mrs. J. T. Johnson 3; freesias, Mrs. A. Johnson 1; iceland poppies, Mrs. J. T. Johnson 1. Decorative Rose bowl, Mr. P. Chapman 1, Mrs. Glass 2, Mrs. Spooner 3; floating bowl, Mrs. E. Collinson 1; centre piece, Mrs. Aden 1, Mrs. Spooner 2, Miss Russ 3. Children’s Section Posy, Barry Sirinott 1, B. Fear 2; buttonhole, Raewyn Payne 1, Glenda Moonie 2, Janice. Moonie 3; decorated saucer, Barry Sinnott 1, Mildred Wellington 2, Glenda Moonie 3. The points prizes donated by Mrs. Woodward and Mrs. Allen Bryant were won bv Mr. P. Chapman 1. Mrs. Murray 2; children, Barry Sinnott 1, Glenda Moonie 2.
