'Unfortunately, Miss Dickson was unable to be present, having previously left the district owing to ill-health. Although Miss Dickson and her father came to this district about 1912, Mr Dickson did not reach here until after the end of World War 1., where he saw active' service, and, finding he can now no longer continue farming, he has disposed of his interests here. The evening was spent in dancing to really excellent music supplied b._ Hooper’s Orchestra, and Messrs A. Kivell and S. Tripe made effijeient masters of ceremonies.

Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Mr and Mrs H. Tripe and M r and Mrs Schaare. The evening was sponsored by the executive of Te Rau-a-Moa Hall Society.

After the supper interval M|r Millar Anderson spoke on behalf of the Settlers’ Association, of which Mr Dickson was a member. He also paid tribute to Mr Dickson’s activities in public and social activities at all times, and expressed pleasure at seeing such a good gathering. At this stage Mr Hogarth, on behalf of the settlers of Te Rau-a-Moa and district, presented a travelling rug and a knitting bag for Dickson and a suit case for Mr Dickson. Mr A. C. Purser, on behalf of Te Rau-a-Moa Sports Club, made a presentation also.

Mr Dickson suitably replied, a,fter which the assembly joined in singing “ For They are Jolly Good Fellows.” Dancing was then resumed and continued until after midnight. Competitions were won by Miss D. Templeton and partner and by Mrs A. Schaare.

Mrs A. Purser and willing helpers dispensed a tasty and plentiful supper.
